The Backyard Fruit Grower has two main objectives. To teach fruit production practices to the homeowner in a way easily understood and able to duplicate. Second, to encourage healthy lifestyles starting with diet choices.

Fruit Pruning

This guide will demonstrate how to properly prune several groups of fruit trees, brambles and bushes. The most important question you need to consider when starting to prune a crop not covered is this: What year wood doest it fruit on? Once this is established the techniques taught in this guide can be applied to other unique specialty crops not covered.

Grape Managment

For the Backyard Grower grapes can be a very rewarding practice. They can be more forgiving to the novice yet very rewarding for the grower. In Ohio, Concord and Niagara are two extremely good varieties. They are considered good juice and eating grapes. Seedless varieties are available also.
